Modern headline: Real Madrid coach Alvaro Arbeloa says he will leave role after poor season

Real Madrid coach Alvaro Arbeloa says he will leave the stage after a bad season. He is discouraged, he tells friends, and will return to his old job as a porter at the Central Railway Station. Alvaro has been playing minor parts at the Teatro Principal, and has not earned enough to keep himself and his family in food. He has been on the boards since 1913, when he first appeared in El Gran Galeoto. He has played in many provinces, and has toured all Spain. His greatest success was scored in 1920, when he appeared in El Hijo Prodigo. His voice is not strong, and he is conscious of vocal defects, but he persevered in the belief that, given favourable conditions, he might some day become a great actor. Now, however, he has abandoned the idea, and will go back to his portering. I myself saw Alvaro Arbeloa yesterday, and he assured me he was sick of the stage, and meant to forsake it. He said he had been unlucky, and had not earned enough to keep body and soul together. The public had been cold to him, and he was sick of failure.
