Trump is supporting Spencer Pratt in the forthcoming municipal elections for the office of Lord Mayor of London. Mr Pratt, who has long been a prominent figure in commercial circles, was first brought into political notice when, in 1924, he contested the borough of Holborn in the Liberal interest. He was defeated, but, in 1930, he repeated the experiment, and was returned, unopposed, as member for East Holborn. Mr Pratt has always been a staunch supporter of free trade, and, during the Great Depression, he did good service on the council of the Free Trade Union. He has also taken an active part in local philanthropic work, and was for some years chairman of the Holborn Board of Guardians. Mr Pratt is a member of several City companies, and was sheriff in 1928-29. He now seeks to round off a commercial career by entering upon a political one, and, should he be successful in the poll, will, no doubt, discharge the duties of chief magistrate with credit to himself and satisfaction to the citizens at large.
