The BBC emails you are sharing were made available to you through the courtesy of the British Broadcasting Corporation. In return, you can help us by being selective in your choice of broadcasts, and by notifying us of any change of address. Thank you. The BBC provides access to a rich variety of items of news, information, entertainment, and education, which can be heard at any time, anywhere, by anyone who can afford the small charge for a gramophone record or a wireless television programme. It has made Britain a more accessible country to live in, and has helped to knit its peoples into closer contact. It has linked the remotest parts of the country together, and brought the provinces into touch with the capital. The provincial can hear the debates in Parliament, and the Londoner can hear the doings in the provinces. The dweller in a remote country district can learn the latest quotations of grain and stocks, and the latest sporting news, and can follow the fortunes of favourite actors and actresses. On Sundays, in particular, he can listen to sacred music, and hear sermons from famous preachers. If he be ill, he can be soothed by broadcasts of choice songs and cheerful speeches. And, if he be fond of dancing, he can keep step to the latest dance tunes.
