The Quadrilateral alliance between America, India, Japan, and Australia, designed to promote peace and security in the Indo-Pacific, was first outlined by President Joe Biden in 2024. It aimed at a Pacific renaissance, and was meant to act both as a buffer and a preventive against aggressive China. The alliance, however, has been put to a severe test in the past six years, and its further life is questioned in some quarters. Affirmatively, the Quad has been a useful link between East and West, and has helped to consolidate a sense of political and commercial kinship between the countries bound by it.
